CCHA Policies

CCHA operating policy handbook / detailed policies

The CCHA Operating Policy Handbook (the "Handbook") was adopted by the Board on September 30, 2016, and is available below for your information and reference. The information and policies contained in the Handbook take precedence over any conflicting information found in any policy posted anywhere on the CCHA web site. To the extent the adoption and publication of the Handbook creates an ambiguity between any other information on the CCHA web site and the terms and conditions of the Handbook, the terms and conditions of the Handbook shall control. The Handbook is also subject to the polices and rules of our governing organizations, Minnesota Hockey and District 6, each as applicable. The Handbook was updated on June 17, 2024 with the passing of the revised refund policy.

The Handbook represents the Board's initial attempt to clarify and modernize its preexisting policies and to add policies to cover emerging issues (e.g., social media). To the extent you believe there are areas not addressed by the Handbook, please inform a member of the Board or attend the monthly Board meeting for a discussion about your concerns.

Volunteer policy

Adopted April 2025

CCHA VOLUNTEER POLICY

A volunteer check is required to be on file for all levels prior to tryouts/evaluations. A player without a volunteer check on file WILL NOT be allowed to participate in ANY tryout/evaluation sessions. NO EXCEPTION WILL BE MADE.

Please note, if a family’s ONLY participating player is a Rookie Mite or a Jr. Gold player, a volunteer check is NOT required as these levels do not require volunteer hours.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

All volunteer hours/activities need to be claimed through the volunteer tab on the family's account page otherwise there is no assurance you will receive credit for any volunteer hours.

All volunteer hours and needs will be reviewed on a monthly basis by the Volunteer Committee composed of the Vice President of Administration, Secretary and Volunteer Coordinator.

If you cannot work your shift and you need to cancel, you need to submit a cancellation request through your account. IF IT IS WITHIN the non cancellation window, you are responsible for finding a replacement or taking the "no show charge".

Failure to show up or find a replacement for a signed up shift will result in a $25.00 fee and applied to your account.

Examples of volunteer hours/activities available from the CCHA:

  • Concessions: Information about concessions can be found on the CCHA website under Volunteer tab
  • CCHA Tournaments (Brick City, Jamboree, D6 Playoffs): clock, scoreboard, penalty box, announcer, welcome desk, etc.*Not all tournament hours are awarded volunteer credit, some are team responsibilities. Those for credit will be posted in the Dibs tab on the website.
  • Tryouts: Note: If you have a player trying out at a specific upper level then you may not work any of the volunteer hours scheduled for that upper level tryout – if you work a tryout Dibs at your players level, you will not receive credit for these hours.
  • Additional needs are posted as necessary.

Examples of volunteer hours/activities that DO NOT count towards the minimum volunteer requirement:

●      Working at district games or scrimmages (penalty box, scorekeeper, running the clock, locker room attendant). These activities are a necessary part of being on an upper level team.

●      Organizing coaches’ gifts, team parties, scrapbooks, team photographer, locker room decorating, sign making and sending announcements or thank you notes; while they generate team spirit and are appreciated, are not part of our volunteer hours but are highly appreciated.
